Annual meeting

Introduction

The Florence network is one of Europe’s oldest nursing and midwifery networks and is to date still an active and welcoming network which is reflected in a membership of almost 50 partner institutions of higher education.

Academic staff, managers and students meet each other at the Florence Network annual meeting, in short, the FNAM. This annual conference is organized each year by one of the member institutions. The hosting of the FNAM should be discussed and announced at the General Assembly at least one year prior to the coming FNAM. It is also possible for more than one institution to co-host a Florence Network Annual Meeting.

In close cooperation with the permanent board and the student board, the host institution(s) assume responsibility for the agenda, organisation, administration, programme, and minutes of the FNAM.

Theme

The topic of this annual meeting deals with the present challenges and needs of students, academic staff, researchers and managers.

Examples of previous themes are:

  • Global Human Security (2021). This Florence Network Annual Meeting was the first virtual meeting in the history of the network. SARS-CoV-2 challenged us to organise this digitally and we successfully succeeded!
  • In 2019 the theme was “Future Forward: The Future of Nursing & Midwifery in a Changing Health Arena”.
  • In 2018 it was “Cha Cha Cha in care – Changes, Challenges, Chances!”
  • And a last example from 2017 where the topic focused on Mental Health: Global Challenge – Local Actions.

FNAM 2022

The next FNAM will be organised by Dokuz Eylul University in Izmir, Turkey, from 10 to 13 May 2022. The topic and the complete programme can be found in due time via the calendar. So stay tuned for more details!

An opportunity not to be missed

These network meetings are a perfect opportunity for all involved to meet each other in person, to share knowledge, expertise and innovations, to find ways to collaborate on short projects like COIL or on research. And above all, it is a place to meet and make friends!

So, besides a very instructive programme filled with workshops and study visits, there is also time for social activities!

A programme of social activities for students runs parallel to the staff programme. The activities of the students are focused on a better knowledge and understanding between all the partners of nursing and midwifery education and of health care and the social care system in general. Getting to know each other, learning from each other and respecting each other’s situation!

There is more to discover

With this new website it is our aim to create more opportunities for collaboration besides the FNAM. To this end, upcoming international events organised by the Florence network partner institutions of higher education will be shared via the calendar. Just have a look!
